El Mac and RETNA Reunite for a Groundbreaking Miami Art Week Showcase

Goldman Global Arts Gallery is gearing up to host one of the standout events of Miami Art Week 2025 as El Mac and RETNA come together again after more than ten years. Their latest collaborative artworks will debut on December 2 at the GGA Gallery within the Wynwood Walls Museum, signifying the revival of a partnership that significantly influenced the street art scene in the 2000s and early 2010s.

The dynamic duo of El Mac’s radiant, detailed portraits and RETNA’s architectural scripts once adorned walls in Los Angeles and Miami, contributing to the rise of modern street art. Now, they reunite in the studio to create a refined visual language developed through years of separate artistic growth.

The 2025 series showcases a more nuanced and mature dialogue between El Mac and RETNA. RETNA’s calligraphy takes on a structural rhythm, while El Mac’s portraits delve deeper into detail, symbolism, and emotional resonance. This renewed collaboration feels both familiar yet freshly invigorated.

A new large-scale mural at the Wynwood Walls Museum will accompany the gallery show, reconnecting their artistic partnership with public spaces that first highlighted their impact. Together, these indoor and outdoor works craft a comprehensive narrative that bridges intimacy with grandeur.

“Wynwood was transformed by artists who altered the visual landscape of the area,” remarked Jessica Goldman Srebnick, founder and curator of GGA Gallery. “El Mac and RETNA were integral to that transformation. Their creative synergy remains potent, and reuniting them here is a momentous occasion many have anticipated.”
